Bayfront Bistro Introduces New Wine List to Benefit Breast Cancer Research In honor of Mother’s Day
Extensive collection available by the glass or bottle, with portion of profit from selected bottles sold donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure Southwest Florida Affiliate for the next year
(Fort Myers Beach, Fla. – April 29, 2010) – Bayfront Bistro, the waterside restaurant at Snook Bight Yacht Club & Marina on Fort Myers Beach, will introduce a new wine list including some of the finest labels from America’s West Coast on May 12 at a kickoff wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. Hundreds of wines from California, Oregon and Washington along with French Champagnes ranging in price from $25 to $550 can now be enjoyed with the eatery’s award-winning cuisine.
“We pride ourselves on having a wine collection that suits nearly every taste,” says Bayfront Bistro and Snook Bight Yacht Club & Marina president Joe Yerkes. “We offer 59 wines by the glass and over 200 by the bottle.” Yerkes also says the restaurant offers its wines at approximately two-thirds of the price fine dining restaurants charge, making Bayfront Bistro a great place to sample new varieties.
A portion of the profits – at least $2 per bottle – of selected wines sold at Bayfront Bistro will also benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure Southwest Florida Affiliate. Last fall, Snook Bight hosted its first All Aboard Against Breast Cancer waterside festival to raise money for the charity. A wine dinner and auction at Bayfront Bistro were part of the event, and the restaurant also donated a portion of the sales of signature Cocktails for the Cure to Komen during October.
“We were able to raise more than $70,000 for the cause and our involvement has grown from there,” Yerkes says. “Everyone had a great time at the events and is excited about this new opportunity to support the Komen affiliate. This isn’t a promotion. We’ll donate a portion of the profit from each bottle of wine year round.”
Bayfront Bistro’s new list will be officially unveiled at a wine dinner on May 12. Wines will be 30 percent off of their already low prices that evening and a five-course dinner with a choice of Kobe Beef or Butterfish entrée can be had for $50. Call 239-765-4371 for reservations.

“All Aboard Against Breast Cancer” Events at Snook Bight Raise $70,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness

• Keith & Susan Muller and Debra & Tom Reavis enjoy the wine dinner and auction
(Fort Myers Beach, Fla. – November 12, 2009) –Snook Bight Yacht Club & Marina and Bayfront Bistro surpassed its fundraising goal by raising $70,000 for the Southwest Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure at the inaugural “All Aboard Against Breast Cancer” event held last weekend.
The “All Aboard Against Breast Cancer” festivities kicked off in October with Bayfront Bistro’s signature “Cocktails for the Cure” offering. For each custom beverage concoction purchased by diners at the award-winning restaurant, four dollars was added to the Komen donation.
On Nov. 6, the “All Aboard Against Breast Cancer” weekend opened with a wine dinner and auction that offered attendees the opportunity to bid on exclusive items such as ACE Group Classic Pro-Am positions, cruises and in-home dinners prepared by Bayfront Bistro Executive Chef Marbin Guzman-Avilez Sr. or Angelina’s Ristorante Chef Nick Costanzo. The big winner for the night was a dinner for 20 with Bayfront Bistro Chef Marbin in the winning bidder’s home. When this item went for $6,000, Snook Bight Yacht Club & Marina and Bayfront Bistro President Joe Yerkes placed a second one on the block which fetched $4,500. The excitement grew as Yerkes added artwork off of the walls to the auction block bringing three new items and $11,500 to the Komen kitty. “I thought he was going to sell the bar stools out from under me” commented Mike Wilke, Bayfront’s General Manager.
The festivities continued the next day with a boat show held in partnership with Marine Max and waterside festival open to the public. The scores of area residents that came also enjoyed live music by The Eric Stone Band, “All Aboard Cocktail for the Cure,” BBQ Extravaganza, boat show and a silent auction and raffle.

• Sharon Faircloth, Evie Barnes, Kathy Holmes, Kevin Faircloth, Mike Barnes, Tauna Schott, Gary Holmes, and Peg & Jack McClosky enjoy Friday night’s wine dinner
“The best thing about these events was that it gave not only our team, but our partners and customers the opportunity to get involved in supporting this important cause,” says Yerkes. “The Komen affiliate board and I are already looking forward to the second annual event next year.”
Yerkes will present the Southwest Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure board with its donation next month.

Mercury Marine Axius and Zeus Controls Ready to Play at Snook Bight’s Boat Show and Waterside Festival
Revolutionary controls empower people to independently, confidently dock boats
(Fort Myers Beach, Fla. – October 22, 2009) – A new attraction has just been announced for Snook Bight Yacht Club and Marina’s “All Aboard Against Breast Cancer” Boat Show and Waterside Festival – Mercury Marine’s Axius and Zeus boat control system demonstration. A popular stop at shows around the country this weekend, the demo will give attendees the chance to try the control systems for themselves and experience how easy they make steering and docking boats.

Mercury Marine’s Axius and Zeus demonstration tent will let festival-goers get up close and personal with the new boat control systems.
“These control systems make it easier for all boaters – experienced and novice alike – to control and dock their boats, but they have the biggest impact on women” says Joe Yerkes, President of Snook Bight Yacht Club and Marina & Bayfront Bistro. “Until now, many people have been intimidated by boat controls and never thought they could navigate, let alone dock a boat by themselves. The Axius and Zeus controls allow them to do that.”
“We’re especially pleased to have this demonstration at our “All Aboard Against Breast Cancer” festival, which supports and will raise needed funds to fight this horrible disease that affects so many people,” Yerkes adds.
Axius and Zeus differ from previous boat controls in that customers use a joystick instead of levers to steer the boat. The joystick is very responsive – customers can operate the system with one hand. They can also move boats sideways in addition to front and back, with a quick turn of the wrist. More information and a demonstration can be viewed at www.joystickboatcontrol.com.
Boaters, sailors, exotic car enthusiasts, families and guests young and old will all find something of interest at Snook Bight Yacht Club and Marina’s first “All Aboard Against Breast Cancer” Waterside Festival on November 6 and 7, 2009, at Snook Bight, 4765 Estero Blvd, located behind the Publix Shopping Center on Fort Myers Beach, or for boaters at Bay Channel Marker 27, VHF Channel 72, GPS 26’26.205 N 81’55.160W.
The weekend will start with an exclusive wine dinner and auction at Bayfront Bistro, the newest and most exclusive waterfront restaurant in the area. The festival continues the next day with a complimentary event open to the Public on Saturday, November 7, at the marina. Waterside activities include a boat show held in partnership with Marina Max, antique car show, in-water boat show and demonstrations by Marine Max on Sea Ray Yachts, as well as hands-on demonstrations of all-new piloting systems from MerCruiser.
Live music will be performed throughout the day by The Eric Stone Band along with an “All Aboard Cocktail for the Cure,” BBQ Extravaganza, and a silent auction and raffle.
A portion of the dinner and all proceeds from the auctions and raffles and chance drawings will directly benefit the Komen Southwest Florida Affiliate whose promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.
The festival is free and open to the public. The wine dinner is $100 per person, reservations are required, seating is limited. For dinner reservations, call 239-765-4371 or for more information about the events, please visit www.allaboardfest.org.
