Jason Nemitz, M.D. and Christopher Dawson, M.D. Join Orthopedic Specialists

(Fort Myers – August 10, 2011) – Orthopedic Specialists of Southwest Florida welcomes Dr. Jason Nemitz and Dr. Christopher Dawson to our practice. Dr. Nemitz specializes in foot and ankle surgery while Dr. Dawson’s areas of specialization include Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Interventional Pain Medicine.

 “The addition of these two physicians enhances the already diverse team of orthopedic physicians within the practice,” said Dr. Charles Springer, a founding partner in Orthopedic Specialists of Southwest Florida. “Each of the physicians on our team brings a different talent or area of expertise to our practice. Working together we offer a total solution to the spectrum of orthopedic problems encountered here in Southwest Florida.”

 Dr. Nemitz graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a double major in Pre-professional Zoology and Genetics and a minor in Chemistry. He received  his medical education at the Ohio State University College of Medicine, and completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Dr. Nemitz is Fellowship trained in foot and ankle surgery, completing this training at the Michigan International Foot and Ankle Center. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.

 Dr. Dawson completed his undergraduate education at the College of William & Mary, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 1994.  He then earned his doctorate in medicine (M.D.) from West Virginia University School of Medicine in 2005.  His surgical internship was completed at the University of Virginia in 2006.  In 2010, he completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Virginia Commonwealth University.  Dr. Dawson is Fellowship trained in Interventional Pain Medicine, having completed his training at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011. Dr. Dawson specializes in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation as well as Interventional Pain Medicine.

(July 15, 2011) — Orthopedic Specialists of Southwest Florida hosted “Wild about Work Comp” on Friday, July 15 at the Holiday Inn Downtown for local business human resources staff, nurse case managers, risk managers and others in worker’s compensation care .  Speakers Dr. Paul D. Fuchs, Dr. Allen C. Tafel, Dr. Antoinio J. Flores, Dr. Fletcher A. Reynolds and Dr. Jeremy Schwartz presented programs on surgical and non-surgical treatments to help get employees with injuries better and back to work quicker.  A networking session followed the program with the doctors.  More than 70 people
attended from Lee and Hendry counties.

Robert P. Casola, D.O. Joins Orthopedic Specialists

(Fort Myers – July 15, 2011) – Orthopedic Specialists of Southwest Florida welcome Dr. Robert P.
Casola, to our practice. Specializing in limb salvage and the treatment of
difficult wounds, Dr. Casola has been in practice in Lee County since 2000.

“Dr. Casola’s specialization in difficult wound care will be a tremendous asset to
our community and our practice,” said Dr. Charles Springer, a founding partner
in Orthopedic Specialists of Southwest Florida. “We have assembled a team of
physicians with complementary areas of expertise here. Dr. Casola will be a
vital part of our team, treating his own patients, and assisting the rest of
the team when they encounter wounds that fail to heal.”

 A graduate of Franklin & Marshall College (Lancaster, PA), Dr. Casola
received his medical training at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.
He completed both his internship and his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at
Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

 Dr. Casola has specialized expertise in wound care and is certified by the American
Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics and the American Board of Hyperbaric
Medicine. He is also a Diplomate of the American Academy of Wound Management.

Orthopedic Specialists of SW Florida celebrates 10th anniversary

(Fort Myers, Fla. – October 8, 2010) – Orthopedic Specialists of SW Florida, one of Fort Myers’ first multi-specialty orthopedic practices is celebrating its 10th year serving the community.

Original employees including director of clinical operations (back row, left to right) Bob Cunniff, Ronald Gardner, MD,  Jeffrey Richards, MD,  Charles Springer, MD, (front row, left to right)Cheryl Day, Sabrina Garcia and Nancy Davis, Clinical LPN, are still with Orthopedic Specialists of Southwest Florida 10 years later.

Founders Dr. Ronald Gardner, Dr. Jeffrey Richards and Dr. Charles Springer set out to establish our area’s only fellowship trained group practice specializing in a variety of surgical and nonsurgical orthopedic services designed to provide patient care from diagnosis to recovery and beyond.  Today, the practice serves several Lee County hospitals and employs 109.

Since opening in 2000, Orthopedic Specialists of SW Florida has grown into a full service orthopedic medical practice with 8 fellowship-trained surgeons, five centers of excellence, a sports medicine center, physical medicine and rehabilitation program, pain management center, physical and occupational therapy department and imaging center.  Other physicians who have joined the practice include Dr. Antonio Flores, Dr. Fletcher Reynolds, Dr. Jeremy Schwartz, Dr. Allen Tafel, Dr. Paul Fuchs and Dr. Patrick Leach.
